A New DTable (Deco) Prototype was presented at: PARIS DESIGN WEEK 2023,
We have been dreaming about this new direction on the DTable’s history and feel so strongly that it should be:
Flat pack
Low Cost / Affordable
Sustainable
DTable is a tale of many stories, it’s the story of a father and son designing together, (DHaus, Architect: David Ben-Grunberg and his Artist Father Maty Grunberg).
And it’s a story of a 100 year old magical mathematical formula that hid in the maths world for over 80 years before being cross pollinated into the design world. The DTable is our longest experiment. It has being going on since 1986, when David’s Dad first stumbled on the magical formula right up until present day Paris 2024! The new DTable Deco, designed in Paris, is essentially a flat pack version of its predecessor. We have always wanted to produce a low-cost flat pack version of the table. Due to the complexities of the table design, the first DHaus DTable we produced was high end and sold as a fully assembled piece that was manufactured in Denmark. (Danes can make furniture!)
But we have always felt a flat pack version of the table would make the product more accessible and reduce transport costs. These are the first prototypes in a new generation of DTables we hope to manufacture. The aim is to manufacture the tables, so they are customizable with different surfaces and finishes.
DTable Deco – GREEN GOBLIN, our first experiment with recycled plastic materials.
Why is the DTable still so important to us and why Paris?
DHaus took part in the 2024 Paris Design Week with a solo show in the heart of Paris
5th/14th September:
Galerie Charmante dans Le Marais - 7 Rue des Gravilliers 75003 Paris, France.
This new flat pack economical version of the DTable was designed in Paris but prototyped in London by Base Models.
We are opening a design studio in Paris, We want the Paris branch to be more focused on design, furniture, art, interiors and lighting etc. but with the DHaus core principle of experimentation that we care so much about in our London Studio.
The table is important to us because we literally started our London studio (DHaus) with it, we have made prototypes From Hackney in London to Denmark, China and Eastern Europe.
Its opened doors when all routes seemed locked and has been a constant stream of hope and optimism in our practice.
