DHaus have won planning permission to design a new rear extension and garden room for a young family in Hitchin.
The existing narrow kitchen extension on ground floor will be removed and replaced with a new light filled kitchen and dining area. Spatially, the new space is articulated into two distinct volumes constructed from timber, concrete and glass, which provide a clear distinction from the main house.
The windows and joinery are made from Douglas Fir to provide further material richness.
To the rear of the garden a new garden gym and store looks back onto the house and the mature garden. Works are due to start on site in December 2021.
